Voyager Principal’s Update 10/4

Voyager Weekly Principal’s Update — Week of October 4

A Note from Ms. Naramore Ms. Naramore

What a first quarter it has been! We wrap up Quarter 1 this Wednesday, and I am so proud of our scholars, families, and staff for the community we have built together so far this year. Please take a moment this week to celebrate your scholar for all they have done so far, particularly if you have a 5th grader!

I also hope you will join us for the AI + Human Connection Summit this week. Whether you come to the community-wide opening session or the Immersive Futures Experience, it will be a meaningful chance to learn and reflect together on what AI means for our community, whether you are an AI promoter or skeptic. You can find all the details and registration in the Campus Announcements below.

One quick reminder before break: Chromebooks will be shut off starting Thursday, October 8th. Beyond that, I hope everyone enjoys a restful and joyful fall break with the people they love. Thank you for being such an important part of the Voyager community!

🔄 🤖 Last Call: Join Us for the AI + Human Connection Summit at Valor

What will it mean to be human in a world shaped by AI? Join us for three ways to explore that question together, created in partnership with the Rithm Project. Learn more about the Summit here.

Community-Wide Opening Session
When: Thursday, October 8 | 8:30–9:30 a.m.
Details: Open to everyone. No registration required! Michelle Culver (the Rithm Project) and Daren Dickson (Valor Innovation) frame the moment: what AI and human connection mean for education, and how our community might respond in ways that reflect our values.

Immersive Futures Experience
When: October 7, 8 & 9 | Sessions are 2.5 hours, with five sessions to choose from
Details: A limited number of spots remain, and they are first come, first served. This is a multigenerational experience for families, students, and faculty together. Each session includes an introduction, an immersion into four possible AI futures, and a group debrief on how Valor should prepare and respond. Recommended for students in 7th grade and up, and families are encouraged to attend together. Register here and pick your preferred time slot. Participants will receive an email confirmation.

Community Meaning-Making Lunch
When: Friday, October 9 | 1:30–2:30 p.m.
Details: Seating is limited and first come, first served. Open to anyone who attended an Immersive Futures Experience. A smaller group works together to turn what we learned into concrete AI norms, policies, and design guardrails for our community.

📚 End of Quarter 1 and Chromebooks Over Fall Break

Quarter 1 ends on Wednesday, October 7. Please also note that Chromebooks will be shut off starting Thursday, October 8, so scholars will not have access to them over fall break.

  • Canned Fruits & Vegetables
  • Canned Soups, Stews, Chili & Pasta
  • Beans (canned or dried)

We’re nearing the end of Quarter 1 and looking forward to Quarter 2. With that in mind, we would LOVE to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff, who have worked so hard to set the tone for the ’26–27 school year. We’ll be hosting the Middle School Teacher Luncheon on Tuesday, October 6th from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., along with the Voyager Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon. Sign up to help here!
