WHOLE-CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

IMPORTANT INFO FROM THE NURSE

It is convenient to leave medications with the nurse so that your scholar can take them as needed.  However, we have a standardized procedure to send medications to ensure everyone’s safety.  We NEVER take medications from children and they should NOT be carrying any medications in their bags.

What is the procedure for scholars taking medication at school?

  • A scholar who takes medication at school must have a completed medication administration form here on file for the current school year. The parent/guardian must return the completed form, along with the medication in its original packaging, to the front office. Medications provided by a scholar will not be accepted and returned to the parent/guardian.
    • For over the counter medications, a parent/guardian may complete and return the medication administration form to the front office.
  • For any prescription medication, the prescribing provider must also sign the form.
  • At the end of the school year, all medications must be picked up by a parent/guardian by the last day of school. All remaining medications in the front office will be disposed of the week after school ends.
  • Medication administration forms are valid for one academic school year and must be resubmitted for each following school year.
  • The school nurse or trained office personnel will administer medications as instructed by the medication administration form.
