Thank you to everyone who joined us for orientation! It was wonderful to connect with so many of our families as we prepare for an incredible academic year ahead.
We are genuinely excited for everything in store for the Upper School this year. As we prepare to welcome everyone back for the first day of school, we want to emphasize the importance of starting strong. This year is going to fly by, and student success begins with being present, on time, and ready to learn every single day.
We also want to extend a special thank you to our Compass Coach, Mr. Strazzeri, for kicking off Senior Year with a fantastic Senior Sunrise! A big thank you as well to all of the students who participated and made the event such a joy for our staff.

Opportunity to join the 26-27 AI Community Council!
Are you curious — or concerned — about how AI is shaping life for you and your student? Do you want to be part of a small multigenerational team working to learn and share more about the opportunities and risks of integrating AI into Valor? We’re looking for 4 family members to join the council alongside students and staff. Application is here (deadline Aug 17). You don’t need to be a ‘tech-expert’ to apply and we welcome family members who are skeptical about AI to sign up.
Time commitment: monthly Monday (4:00pm-5:15pm) meetings at VCP. 30 minutes of work between meetings. More details included in the application (tentative meeting dates, expectations, etc). Questions? Reach out to Daren Dickson at ddickson@valorcollegiate.org.
If you have a student in grades 7-12 who you think would be a great fit for the council, encourage them to apply! The student application opens when they arrive on campus and is due by Aug 24th.

Campus Wide Parent Welcome Breakfast

This event provides the opportunity for parents to be introduced to the Family Engagement Team, learn about the different ways you can get connected, be informed and involved with our Valor community.

This calendar will reflect events happening during the school day and after school – we hope to encourage participation and connection by making events more widely publicized!

CELEBRATIONS & COMMUNITY CONNECTION
As we start the new school year during Intersectionality Awareness Month, we celebrate the unique identities, stories, and backgrounds that make our community strong. To help scholars share their voices beyond our classrooms, we are excited to highlight two community creative opportunities:
- CreArte Fest (Ages 7–15): The “Meeting of Traditions” project invites students to honor their heritage through original artwork inspired by global traditions. Submissions are due August 19th. Register here!
- Conexión Américas (Grades 9–12): Centered on the theme “El Cambio Empieza Conmigo | The Change Begins With Me,” high school students can create an essay or multimedia piece exploring how individual actions strengthen our community. Submissions are due August 31st. Details included here!
Whether expressing family traditions or reflecting on community impact, we invite our scholars to participate and let their perspectives shine. Please see the attached flyers for full details!

I am excited to announce that registration for Valor’s after school clubs are officially open! Please visit our site at valorface.com to take a look at the current offerings, their schedule, and sign up. The first day of programs will begin September 8, 2026.
Additionally, Boys and Girls Club registration is currently open and they will begin programming on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Auditions for Dance club will be August 10, 2026 in Voyager lower school commons

Senior Trip
Hello 12th grade families! The Senior Trip planning has officially started. Please refer below for details regarding the dates, deposit, and how to register.
Trip Date: April 30 – May 1, 2027
Destination: Atlanta, Georgia/Six Flags Grad Night/The World of Coca-Cola
Registration: All students must register through Adventure Student Travel. Here are step-by-step directions on how to register.
Deposit: A $100 non-refundable deposit is due by Friday, September 4th and must be paid via MySchoolBucks. The link to submit your deposit is listed below.

Trip Payment Details
For your planning purposes, the estimated cost to attend will be between $300-$325. The cost includes transportation, lodging, meals, and a Class of 2027 Trip T-Shirt. The final cost will depend on the amount of deposits received by September 4, 2026. The confirmed cost will be provided once that deadline has passed. *Please note that the cost on the AST registration site does not reflect what you will be expected to pay. Valor will be contributing a portion per student.
Note: Failure to pay the deposit by the firm deadline, Friday, September 4, will result in being unable to attend, as we must submit final numbers to secure trip bookings.
