Welcoming Our Guest Educators!
With several of our teachers welcoming new babies into their families this winter, we have partnered with a small group of experienced guest educators to support our classrooms and keep learning steady and joyful for students.

Each guest has a strong background working in schools and is partnered closely with a Voyager administrator so that planning, communication, and student support stay aligned with our school culture.

If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to reach out to our school-based administration.

You can find information about our long-term guest educators here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mjkwcY7Hy8igc8H5rv6QKCNxwMpVhXx4l5DOkKAxTNA/edit?tab=t.0

Inclement Weather Day Make-Up: February 16th

Given the recent inclement weather storm in Nashville, Valor needs to make up one school day. Valor had five built in inclement weather days coming into the school year and given the six days missed, we need to make up a day. To make-up for this day, we are aligning with MNPS and having school with our students on Monday, February 16th in lieu of previously planned professional development with our staff.

If you are curious for more information about the calendar and why Valor needs to make up a day, please reach out to Valor’s Managing Director of Schools, Jamie Gutter at jgutter@valorcollegiate.org. He would be happy to explain!

Updated 26-27 Bell Schedule

For the 26.27 school year, we’re making some adjustments to our schedule that have some impacts to our dismissal times for the 26.27 school year. We’re making these adjustments to ensure we’re in compliance with guidance from the state that has shifted over the past few years related to length of the day and additional stockpile PD/inclement weather days. Here are updated arrival and dismissal times:

  • Mondays: 7:55-3:36
  • Tuesdays-Friday: 7:55-3:10

26-27 Calendar

We have our Spanish and Arabic versions of our 26-27 school year calendar. You can find all links below. As we’ve shared, we’ll republish our calendars once our internal dates have been finalized in the coming weeks.  English     Spanish   Arabic

Rising 9th Grader Announcement from VCP

Dear 8th Grade Families,

We are excited to begin the course selection process for next school year.

On Tuesday, the 8th Grade Course Preference Survey will be sent to both students and parents. This survey allows students to indicate their course interests and preferences as we begin building next year’s schedule.

To support you in making informed decisions, the email will include:

  • A short informational video explaining the course selection process
  • A  Course Description Guide outlining each class option

Some of the choices students can look forward to making include:

  • Visual Arts 1 or Theatre 1
  • Heritage Spanish or Spanish 1
  • AP Human Geography or Honors World History

We strongly encourage families to review the video and course descriptions together before completing the survey so that selections reflect both student interests and long term academic goals.

The Course Preference Survey will be due on Tuesday, March 3rd. Please be sure to submit it by that date to ensure your student’s preferences are considered during scheduling.

If you have any questions after reviewing the materials, please reach out to scheduling@valorcollegiate.org.

We look forward to partnering with you as we prepare for an exciting start to high school.

Dr. Bradford and Dr. Gill

CELEBRATIONS & COMMUNITY CONNECTION

February Observances

As February continues, we honor Black History Month and Ramadan, alongside other moments that invite reflection on leadership, faith, and justice. Black History Month calls us to celebrate the history, brilliance, and ongoing contributions of Black communities, while Ramadan is a sacred season of prayer, fasting, and generosity for many of our Muslim students and families. At our diverse-by-design school, these observances help us practice empathy, deepen understanding, and ensure every member of our community feels seen and valued.

National & Cultural Observances

  • Presidents Day — Feb. 16: Reflects on civic leadership and our shared responsibility to strengthen democracy.
  • Shrove Tuesday — Feb. 17: A day of preparation and reconciliation before Lent.
  • Lunar New Year — Feb. 17: Celebrated across many Asian cultures with family traditions and wishes for prosperity.
  • Ash Wednesday — Feb. 18: Begins Lent with reflection and intention-setting.
  • Ramadan — Approximately begins Feb 18: A month of fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, and community care.
  • World Day of Social Justice — Feb. 20: Promotes equity, dignity, and opportunity for all.

Local Highlights & Community Resources
For families observing Ramadan, the Islamic Center of Nashville (https://icnashville.org) offers prayer times, community iftars, and educational resources. Families may find support in understanding Ramadan here. Our staff support fasting students with flexibility and understanding.
