| VALOR FAMILY GROUP: FAMILY ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS |
As we close out November, our community continues to honor remembrance, service, and belonging. This season invites us to reflect on the cultural and national observances that shape who we are. November recognizes Adoption Month, Native American Heritage Month, and Military Family Appreciation Month with each honoring love, resilience, identity, and the strength of community.
Throughout the week of November 23–29, our school community acknowledges a variety of cultural and religious traditions:
- November 25 – Day of the Covenant A sacred Bahá’í observance honoring Bahá’u’lláh’s appointment of his son, Abdu’l-Bahá, as his successor; a time for unity and reflection.
- November 27 – National Day of Mourning A day of remembrance recognizing the painful history and ongoing resilience of Native peoples.
- November 27 – Thanksgiving Day A national holiday celebrating gratitude and connection, while also inviting reflection on the complexities of American history.

For Families Navigating the Season
The holidays can bring joy as well as stress or sadness. If this season feels heavy for your family, supportive resources such as the Child Mind Institute offer guidance for talking with kids about complex feelings. While Vanderbilt offers helpful tips for adults. This is a meaningful time to check in, honor your traditions, and make space for whatever emotions arise.
