WHOLE-CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dear VCP Families,
As we head into the holiday break, I want to share a warm reminder about the importance of strong attendance when we return. The days leading up to our Quarter 2 benchmarks on December 10–12 are essential for review, support, and preparation, and having students present and on time each day makes a meaningful difference in their success.
I am truly thankful for you, your students, and the incredible school community we have built together. Your partnership, care, and commitment make VCP a special place, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving. We look forward to welcoming our students back, ready to finish the semester strong.
Dr. Gill

Important Update on Student Chromebooks
We want to make you aware of an important update about student Chromebooks. Our backup Chromebook inventory is no longer usable due to expired warranties, and our loaner devices have all been checked out. While we wait for new devices to arrive, we need all students to take extra care of their Chromebooks to prevent any additional damage.
If a Chromebook becomes damaged at this time, we will not be able to provide a loaner device. This may mean that students will need to complete some classwork or tests on paper until new devices are available.
We know this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we work toward a long-term solution as quickly as possible.
Email Phishing
Over the past few months, some Valor student and staff accounts have been affected by phishing attacks. Even though we use tools to help protect our accounts, everyone plays an important role in keeping our school’s information safe.
What is phishing?
Phishing is when someone pretends to be a real person (like a teacher) or company (like Amazon) to trick you into clicking a link or giving them personal information (like your password). These messages can look real, but one wrong click can cause big problems.
Identifying phishing emails
- Urgent or scary messages: The email might say something bad will happen if you don’t act fast (like “Your account will be closed!”).
- Too good to be true: If it promises something really awesome, like a big prize, a job, or a reward but it feels unlikely, that’s a bad sign.
- Bad spelling or grammar: Real organizations usually write carefully, lots of typos or awkward sentences can be a warning sign.
- Suspicious links: Hover your mouse (or tap and hold on a phone) over links without clicking. Does the web address look weird or different than what the message says?
- Asking for private info: Phishing emails often ask you to re-enter your password, or provide sensitive personal info. Legitimate companies almost never do that in an email.
- Generic greeting: Instead of using your name, a phishing email might say something like “Dear Customer” or “Hello User.”
- Pressure to click or download: Be very careful if the email is pushing you to click a link or open a file right away.
If you’re not sure how to identify phishing emails, see more info here.
If you get an email that seems suspicious:
- Don’t click any links.
- Click the three dots at the top right of the email and select Report phishing.
- Delete the email.
If you clicked a link in a suspicious email:
- Do all the steps above.
- Change your password right away.
If you’re ever unsure, report it. It’s always better to be safe!

CELEBRATIONS & COMMUNITY CONNECTION
As we close out November, our community continues to honor remembrance, service, and belonging. Throughout the week of November 23–29, our school community acknowledges a variety of cultural and religious traditions:
Key Cultural Observances (Nov 23–29)
- Nov 25 – Day of the Covenant: A sacred Bahá’í observance honoring Bahá’u’lláh’s appointment of his son, Abdu’l-Bahá, as successor; a moment of unity and reflection.
- Nov 27 – National Day of Mourning: A day recognizing the painful history and enduring resilience of Native peoples.
- Nov 27 – Thanksgiving Day: A national holiday celebrating gratitude and connection while inviting reflection on the complexities of American history.
Local Highlights

• Nov 27 Volunteer Opportunity: NOW OPPORTUNITIES CAN EXIST, in partnership with Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, will host a Thanksgiving Community Meal & Outreach from 12:30–2:00 PM (or until meals last) at both Mt. For Families Navigating the Season
The holidays can bring joy as well as stress or sadness. If this season feels heavy, the Child Mind Institute offers guidance for supporting children with complex feelings, and Vanderbilt Health provides resources for adults. This is a meaningful time to check in, honor traditions, and make space for whatever emotions arise.
