Inclement Weather Day Make-Up: February 16th
Given the recent inclement weather storm in Nashville, Valor needs to make up one school day. Valor had five built in inclement weather days coming into the school year and given the six days missed, we need to make up a day. To make-up for this day, we are aligning with MNPS and having school with our students on Monday, February 16th in lieu of previously planned professional development with our staff.
If you are curious for more information about the calendar and why Valor needs to make up a day, please reach out to Valor’s Managing Director of Schools, Jamie Gutter at jgutter@valorcollegiate.org. He would be happy to explain!
26-27 Calendar
We have our Spanish and Arabic versions of our 26-27 school year calendar. You can find all links below. As we’ve shared, we’ll republish our calendars once our internal dates have been finalized in the coming weeks.

Date: Thursday February 19th, 2026
Location: Zoom ( https://valorcollegiate.zoom.us/j/99911521796)
Time: 6:00 PM
In response to feedback from our last Academic Q&A, we’re introducing a town hall format to better address your needs. This session will help families gain clarity on where we are academically, understand academic goals, and gear up for testing.
We value your partnership and look forward to seeing you there! Together, we can make the remainder of this school year and our testing season a success.
CELEBRATIONS & COMMUNITY CONNECTION
February Observances
As February continues, we honor Black History Month and Ramadan, alongside other moments that invite reflection on leadership, faith, and justice. Black History Month calls us to celebrate the history, brilliance, and ongoing contributions of Black communities, while Ramadan is a sacred season of prayer, fasting, and generosity for many of our Muslim students and families. At our diverse-by-design school, these observances help us practice empathy, deepen understanding, and ensure every member of our community feels seen and valued.
National & Cultural Observances
- Presidents Day — Feb. 16: Reflects on civic leadership and our shared responsibility to strengthen democracy.
- Shrove Tuesday — Feb. 17: A day of preparation and reconciliation before Lent.
- Lunar New Year — Feb. 17: Celebrated across many Asian cultures with family traditions and wishes for prosperity.
- Ash Wednesday — Feb. 18: Begins Lent with reflection and intention-setting.
- Ramadan — Approximately begins Feb 18: A month of fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, and community care.
- World Day of Social Justice — Feb. 20: Promotes equity, dignity, and opportunity for all.
Local Highlights & Community Resources
For families observing Ramadan, the Islamic Center of Nashville (https://icnashville.org) offers prayer times, community iftars, and educational resources. Families may find support in understanding Ramadan here. Our staff support fasting students with flexibility and understanding.
