Lunch Reminders:
As we approach the end of the semester, we wanted to share some lunch updates with you:
- Please make sure that you are checking your scholars’ Meal Invoice and paying any fees. If you believe you have been wrongly charged, reach out to Mr. Huxley and Ms. Marks at flagshipfrontdesk@valorcollegiate.org and we will be glad to help.
- School Lunch Payments can be made at www.myschoolbucks.com or through the MySchoolBucks App. You do not need to pay the full balance at once and can do a partial payment. Payments can also be made in person with cash, check, or card, although the app or website is usually the simplest option.
- While not required, we strongly recommend applying for Free and Reduced Lunch because it can significantly reduce your students current balance and future meal costs. The application takes less than five minutes. You can apply at www.myschoolapps.com
- You need to complete an application annually! Even if you qualified for Free or Reduced Lunch last year, you still need to apply for this school year.
One very important note: When creating your MySchoolBucks account or completing the lunch application, please select Valor Collegiate Academies. Do not select Metro Nashville Public Schools. Our Food Services operate separately, and MNPS applications cannot be used to provide free or reduced pricing for your student.
We appreciate your partnership and are looking forward to a great start to the new year
| CELEBRATIONS & COMMUNITY CONNECTION |
January Observances
As we move into January, our community continues to uplift compassion, culture, and connection. Over the past few weeks, many in our community marked meaningful holidays and observances, including Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and the New Year. We honor the joy, reflection, rest, and resilience these moments can hold, and we recognize that this season looks and feels different for each of us.
This time invites us to continue honoring traditions rooted in human dignity, shared joy, and collective care.
- Wed. January 14 Makar Sankranti — A Hindu seasonal celebration marking the sun’s transition northward, observed across South Asia.
- Mon. January 19 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day — Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King and his enduring call to justice and collective responsibility.
