TN Ready Testing Updates
We want to ensure that you have all the necessary information about the upcoming Tennessee Ready testing period. The testing window will take place from April 17th to April 27th, with the exception of April 20th and 21st.
During this time, we will be providing snacks for our students during their “brain break” time. We kindly request family donations of snacks such as individually bagged chips, cookies, crackers, and individually wrapped granola bars. We ask that snacks do not include peanuts or peanut products. Your support is greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the front office anytime prior to or during testing.
Additionally, we want to make you aware of a policy put into place by the Tennessee State Legislature that states that all students have the option to request an additional 20% extended time on any TNReady assessment. If you would like your child to take advantage of this offering, please submit a written request to the front office. Our proctors will also ask at the end of the testing period if any student needs the extra time, and it will be offered accordingly.
If you have any further questions about the optional extended time, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Palmer at spalmer@valorcollegiate.org.
Thank you for your support and cooperation during this testing period. We wish our students the best of luck!

April: Autism Acceptance Month
1 in 36 people in the US are born with Autism as of 2022 according to the CDC. Numbers may be higher in reality as those born females, BIPOC, and low-income people have a harder time getting diagnosed. This April, let’s come together to make the world better for autistic & allistic people alike.
April: Child Abuse Prevention Month
Every year, the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services joins child welfare professionals across the U.S. in recognizing April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. All Tennesseans have a role to play in preventing child abuse, and DCS joins its partners across the state — including private providers, local and state agencies, non-profit organizations and houses of worship — to remind our communities and neighborhoods to help keep children safe.
One of the best strategies is supporting families before they reach a crisis. Across the state, DCS staff and our providers offer prevention and in-home services to support families. These include Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention programs and Resource Linkage staff who focus on families whose children are at risk of coming into state care.
Join DCS in sharing important messages during Child Abuse Prevention Month. The partner toolkit includes pre-made social media messages and graphics you can use to spread the word. Together, we can amplify this important message in hopes of reaching as many Tennesseans as possible.
