2/17/23 VCP Safety Search

Dear VCP Community Members,

Today from 11:30 – 12:15 Metro Nashville Public Schools Security Team conducted a drug search of our campus using their K-9 unit. The purpose of this search was for safety reasons, and was not in response to any specific incident, report, or student. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, we are not able to share any results or information from the K-9 team related to the search.

While the search took place, VCP’s campus was in a lock-in, which means that students were asked to stay in their class. This was to allow for the K-9 unit and officers to complete the search with minimal interruption.

We communicated to our community (on 1/22 in the principal update) about the upcoming search. We anticipate conducting regular searches throughout the spring semester.

Our intention in completing these searches is to do our part to keep our VCP community safe.  This is an effective tool we have available to us to keep illegal substances off our campus.

Should you have any questions about today’s search or any upcoming searches, please contact myself or our Associate Head of School for Culture, Ms. Ashley Smith.

Take care,
Sarah Giblin, sgiblin@valorcollegiate.org  and Ashley Smith asmith@valorcollegiate.og
