WHOLE-CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
CURRENT VALOR FAMILIES! The application deadline to apply for the 2023-24 school year is February 10th! As a current family, you do not need to complete a new application. You will only need to complete re-enrollment & your family survey. Spread the word to your friends and family if they are interested in applying with us! If your scholar has a sibling, you MUST complete a new application for that scholar. Login to your valorenroll.com account and click START NEW APPLICATION to complete. Lottery results will be released the week of March 6th.
March 1st – March 3rd: Mock EOC and Mock AP Testing
Students will take part in mock (practice) AP and EOC exams from March 1st through March 3rd. When students are not testing, they will not be expected to be at school. This may mean late arrivals, early dismissals, or even excused absences from school for some students. Please check your email inbox (or your student’s inbox) for an email from Lisa Ladd this week that shares your student’s specific testing schedule, and make transportation plans accordingly.
March 7th: ACT for 11th Grade
Juniors will take the ACT on 3/7. When it is over, students will be dismissed. The expected time of dismissal is 11:30 for students testing with standard time. Caregivers and students who receive extended time will receive an email with details about expected start and end times for this day and any other days (if applicable) that students will be engaged in the ACT.
23-24 School Year Course Advising and Scheduling
Valor College Prep is excited to announce that we are launching the course advising and registration process for the 2023-2024 school year! This year’s process is different from prior years, so it’s incredibly important to review all information thoroughly and seek support as needed. As we know, this process can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming, so we are attempting to improve our communication about the overall process, deadlines, ways to get support as you navigate this process from start to finish.
The initial launch session is open to all current 9th – 11th grade students and will take place February 7th at 6:30PM, immediately following the 9th and 10th grade Postsecondary Event – which can be joined via Zoom (or in-person for those 9th and 10th families attending the PSS event). The recording and slides from this session will be provided via email on February 8th.

Outward Bound: Amazing Experience Open to All Current 9th – 11th Grade Students
Dear VCP Community,
As you may know, Valor College Prep is a partner school with the North Carolina Outward Bound School, which facilitates extended wilderness-based leadership development programs for students in the mountains of western North Carolina. Over the past four years, VCP has sent more than 60 students on NCOBS programs and we’ve again been offered a number of fully-funded spots on their summer trips. These trips run throughout June and July, range from 9 to 22 days, and feature activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, and whitewater canoeing.
These are physically and emotionally rigorous trips that are intended to challenge students. Students are outdoors for the duration of the trip and Outward Bound provides all the necessary outdoor gear. The trips are great for students looking to try something new, push themselves, add to their college resume, and/or be in nature.
If interested, please reach out to Mr. Hengen at jhengen@valorcollegiate.org as soon as possible.
Best,
Mr. Hengen
