Tickets

Everyone will need to purchase tickets including students. Tickets can be purchased here. There will be no cash accepted at the gate. Gates will open at 4pm.

Please be mindful that there is a CLEAR BAG policy at Vanderbilt and will be enforced. Please plan to have a clear bag if you need to bring a bag to the stadium.

High School Lacrosse Interest (Open to 8th grade Boys)If you are interested in learning more about the high school boys Lacrosse team (Open to 8th graders) please complete this interest form!

CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Q1 Benchmarks

Quarter 1 benchmarks are this week! These are summative assessments on all content from the first quarter. Scholars take benchmarks for Writing, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. These will be on September 28th-30th, scholars will take two benchmarks a day with no instruction on those days. 

End of Quarter 1

The last day of quarter one is on Thursday, October 6th. There is no school on Friday, October 7th for teacher professional development. Teachers will finalize all grading on Friday, October 7th. We’ll send report cards to all families after fall break. 

Report Card Conferences

Report card conferences are on Friday, 10/28. We will have an early 12:00 PM dismissal and families will have the opportunity to schedule conferences directly with teachers. Families can schedule conferences with teachers from 3:00-4:30 or drop in starting at 4:30. Drop-in time is first come first serve, so we recommend emailing teachers to schedule a time in the 3:00-4:30 window. 

8th Grade Washington DC Trip

Valor is excited to officially open registration for our 6th annual 8th grade trip to Washington DC! 

Scholars will have the opportunity to 

  • Tour the memorials including the World War II, Vietnam War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War Memorial
  • Visit the Holocaust Museum (subject to availability)
  • Tour the Capitol Building
  • Visit the Library of Congress
  • Visit the Supreme Court (lecture if available)
  • Visit the National Archives
  • Photo stop outside the White House
  • Visit the National Zoo 
  • Go to Six Flags America 
  • Attend a Dinner Cruise on the Potomac River

FACE: FINE ARTS, CLUBS & ENRICHMENTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Spring Musical Update

We are very excited to announce that we have a brand new director for the spring musical!  Please welcome Bret Carson!

Bret Carson is a Valor College Prep faculty member and 9th grade ELA Teacher with a nearly decade-long theater background. Starting in high school, he went on to pursue dual BA’s in Acting/Directing and English at Austin Peay State University. An accomplished director and playwright, he’s worked with various colleges and independent theater companies, such as Woven Theatre Company and ACT1 in Nashville. In the past, he’s directed The Addams Family, Big Fish, and abridged Waiting for Godot and several original works.

We will be announcing the show and auditions very soon so stay tuned!

The FACE Team

We’ve been working so hard behind the scenes, that sometimes we forget to let you know who we are and what exactly it is we’re doing behind the scenes.  Here’s a brief rundown of who’s on the FACE team and our primary areas of focus:

After School Programs Manager: Pashion Wofford

Manages all 30+ programs and program leaders–this includes logistics, training, Club Visits, fundraising endeavors, planning & executing FACE events, and securing new programming

After School Coordinator: Samantha Sharpe

Handles various administrative tasks, serves as parent point of contact at Voyager front desk, manages late scholars, works with ASPM to ensure after school programs run smoothly and with fidelity

Director of Fine Arts & Enrichment: Aaron Miller

Manages art & theatre curriculum for all three schools, coaches all fine arts teachers, oversees after school programming in tandem with ASPM

Our weekly updates will now include A FACE Club spotlight where we will showcase all the amazing things scholars are accomplishing via the Face Programs. This part will be referred to as “Face Club Spotlight.

Face Club Spotlight

The Vex Robotics team is gearing up for success!

Students in VEX Robotics are tasked with designing a robot to participate in numerous challenges, competitions, and tournaments. The VEX Robotics team is getting ready for the fall and spring contests. To be prepared for the fall competition, they are designing 61391W. Be a role model, Valor Wildcats!

NEW Process for Club Dismissal

Girls & Boys Club dismissal will remain the same.  Parents as you all know, it can be chaotic in the Voyager front lobby during club dismissal. Starting Monday, September 26th, Program Leaders will walk scholars to the awning in front of Voyager for pickup. Any remaining scholars can be picked up at the Voyager front office. Please follow all Valor Collegiate Academies Traffic protocol.

FACE has a new email address! We are making it easier for everyone to ensure that Program Leader, Parents, and the FACE Team is a cohesive community. Please email your questions and concerns to FACE@valorcollegiate.org

Fire Safety Announcement from the State of Tennessee

1. A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Know your emergency evacuation routes at school and at home. Don’t forget to identify a secondary evacuation route in case your primary route is not available. 

2. A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Emergency supply kits can help you be prepared. Items to keep in your emergency kit include a flashlight, batteries, first aid kit, whistle, phone lists, paper, pencil, water, and non-perishable snacks. 

3. A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Smoke detectors should be located on every floor of your home and near all places that you and your family sleep.  Smoke detector batteries should be changed on a regular basis.

4. A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Have a meeting location at school and at home that everyone will gather after a fire evacuation. A meeting location will help you quickly verify that everyone made it out safely.

5. A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Once you evacuate due to a fire, NEVER go back inside a burning building.  Once out, stay out.  Firefighters will rescue anyone who needs help.
