Flagship Staff Transitions
As we prepare to close out the school year, we are excited to share some news of our Flagship staff transitions who will be moving on from Flagship at the end of this school year. Renee Clifford (8th ELA)
After 5 years of teaching Compass Class and 8th ELA, Ms. Clifford will be leaving Valor Flagship. She will still be around Nashville and is excited for what’s to come.
Tess Murphy (6th English)
After a wonderful year teaching 6th grade English at Flagship, Ms. Murphy will be heading to Harvard University next fall to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education.
Claudia Wittich (Special Education)
Ms. Wittich is saying goodbye to Flagship after three wonderful years. She will be getting married and moving to Lexington, Kentucky to work in behavioral therapy and will deeply miss every single student she has taught.
Tyler Ring (Content Focus Math)
After 3 years teaching at Valor, Mr. Ring will be moving back to the Boston area to continue his work in education closer to his family. He will deeply miss working with the colleagues and families at Valor, and he will always cherish the scholar relationships created in these last 3 years.
Shivpriya Sridhar (7th ELA)
After 2 years of teaching 7th grade English at Flagship, Ms. Sridhar will be leaving Valor Flagship. She is headed to New Jersey where she will be completing her Masters in Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is so grateful for the diverse and transformative relationships she has had the honor of experiencing through some of the most challenging years.
Aquarius Stone (Compass Coach)
After one year at Valor working as the Lower School Compass Coach, Ms. Stone is pursuing other opportunities here in Nashville, TN.
Alex Galistel (Special Education)
After one year at Valor working in the RTI and SPED role, Mr. Galistel will be leaving to follow his career goals of working in Operations at another charter here in Nashville, TN.
Support/Connection for Valor Adoptive Families
Valor’s Compass/Culture Team is looking into providing support groups/clubs in the 22-23 school year addressing specific shared experiences, needs, or challenges. We are currently assessing interest from families with scholars who are adoptees who might want to participate in a short term support group (with the potential for a longer term group/club). Flagship Special Events
5th Grade Picnic:
The 5th grade annual end of year picnic will be taking place on Friday, May 13th during school hours.
A permission slip was emailed to all families last week with all information. Several of you still have not signed the permission, and/or submitted payment via www.MySchoolBucks.com. Please do so immediately. If you are having trouble submitting payments on Myschoolbucks, you can send in a check with your scholar no later than Wednesday, May 11th. The cost for your scholar to attend is $5, however, if you are able to help sponsor another scholar(s) that would be greatly appreciated!

Helpful Information to know:
– Scholars are encouraged to wear quick try clothes, and water shoes.
– Scholars are welcome to bring personal toys, however, they must be ok with sharing and be responsible for their own belongings. Valor will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items.
7th Grade Dance
Saturday, May 14th from 7-9 pm @ Flagship

8th Grade Promotion
8th Grade Promotion will be on Wednesday, May 25th at 6:00 PM in the VCP Gym. We will honor all of our 8th graders, present some special awards, and celebrate all that the scholars have accomplished. It will be a special evening!
Last Day of School
Last day of school and awards ceremonies will be on Friday, May 27th with a 12:00 PM dismissal. There is no instruction on this day, we’ll have a celebration and each grade level will have an awards ceremony. We’ll share more information in the coming week about which time each grade level’s ceremony is. Families are invited to the awards ceremony!
Library Books
Library books were due back this week! Please search your home for any library books to return to school next week so we can inventory them by the end of the year.
HWRA Courses Continue This Week
We are excited to continue our HWRA (Health, Wellness, Relationships & Adolescence Course) in Compass and PE classes this week.
