Note from the Nurses: For all rising 7th Grade Families in the 22-23 School Year!
Each year, all incoming 7th grade scholars are required by state law to submit proof of receiving the Tetanus (Tdap) booster vaccine, or a note from a parent/guardian stating a religious objection to it.
This is a state requirement, and if this documentation is not received 10 school days after the start of the 22-23 school year, then any scholar without documentation on file will not be allowed in school until documentation is received.
There are several different options for getting the form to us:
-email a digital copy of the documentation to health@valorcollegiate.org
-upload a digital copy of the documentation to www.valorenroll.com
-bring a physical copy of the documentation to your school’s front office
Please note: due to HIPAA and privacy laws, we are generally unable to contact your scholar’s physician directly to obtain this information

Change to School Schedule, School Canceled on Monday, 5/2
In observance of Eid, Valor has made the decision to cancel school for all students on Monday, 5/2.
We previously had testing scheduled on 5/2. The MS TNReady is that the Science TNReady will now be taken in the afternoon on Wednesday, 4/27 and Social Studies TNReady will be taken on Thursday, 4/27 to accommodate make-up testing.
Remember, there is also no school for students on Tuesday, 5/3.

Progress Reports will go out this week via email. You can always keep updated on your scholars grades via the Illuminate parent portal.
Voyager Signature Events
Our signature events are coming soon! There will be more information in this week’s principal update about each event:
- 5th Grade Picnic: Friday, May 13th: This event will happen during the school day, permission slips will be coming home later this week! We would love to have some families support with chaperoning, we’ll share more information soon.
- 6th Grade Lock-In: Friday, April 29th: Families must fill out permission slips for this event!
- 7th Grade Dance: Saturday, May 14th: See volunteer opportunity below!
- 8th Grade Promotion: Thursday, May 26th: We’ll send invitations for this event soon!

7th Grade Dance Volunteers Needed

HWRA Course Materials, Q&A Session & Opt Out Form
As previously shared in the Principal Update, our middle school Health, Wellness, Relationships & Adolescence Course will be taught to 5th – 8th graders through Enrichment class in early May. Thanks to families who attended our Q&A session on Friday.
Here is a link to the document with questions and associated answers in case you weren’t able to attend. Here is a link to the slide deck with specific information for the course. You can continue to update the question and answer document until the start of HWRA on 5/3.
Here are some final details for our HWRA courses, which launch in Compass and PE class next week:
- All course materials are available for families and scholars to review prior to the course being taught through the following home link pages
- There will be a study hall option provided should your family wish to opt your scholar out of participating in this course.
- If you wish to opt your scholar out of attending the HWRA course, please complete the opt out form no later than 4/25.
- 6/8 grades will have combined lessons 1 and 2 due to the calendar shift for no school on 5/2/22. If your scholar is opting out of one but not both of these, we will make arrangements to ensure they are not present for the portion they opted out of.

MAMMA MIA
Due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases and in order to protect the safety of the Mamma Mia cast and crew, we decided as a school to cancel this past weekend’s performances.
We are working very hard with our health team to have in place a test to stay procedure for the upcoming shows. We are asking that all cast members come to our test to stay clinic Thursday or Friday morning between 6:30 am and 8:00 am. The clinic is being run from the Valor Compass Training Center (4523 Nolensville Pike, Nashville, TN 37211).
If you purchased a ticket for the cancelled shows, you may still use it for the upcoming shows next weekend (4/29-5/1). You can make this adjustment on the ticket site where you purchased the tickets originally. You can still BUY TICKETS for next week HERE.
